On January 31st, the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) hosted the Music Education Forum in the 21st Century, an event focused on evaluation not only as an assessment of the final result but also as a tool to observe and understand the creative process.
The forum featured a notable closing speech by Professor Joaquín Gairín, director of CRiEDO, titled “Political and Ethical Positions of Student-Centered Evaluation”. During his presentation, Professor Gairín discussed new approaches to evaluation, the personalization of learning, and the coordination of the educational process at the institutional level.
Gairín emphasized the importance of authentic evaluation and its characteristics, highlighting the possibility and reality of formative evaluation. The personalization of learning allowed for a deeper exploration of methodological approaches that facilitate personalized evaluation, attention to diversity, and the support that integrated tutoring models can offer within the curriculum.
Finally, the dependence on coordination processes for professional collaboration was highlighted as both a necessity and an opportunity, emphasizing the methodologies and conditions that make collective work possible.
