The book on the digital transformation of education in the age of AI is now available

The book The Digital Transformation of Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence has been published, bringing together contributions from FIET 2024 and offering a current and forward-looking perspective on the impact of digital technologies on education systems.

Within the volume, two chapters featuring contributions from CRiEDO members stand out:

Joaquín Gairín, together with Francesc Pedró, Beatriz Pont, and Luis Marqués, critically analyzes current education policies within the framework of digital transformation. The chapter raises two key questions: whether educational initiatives truly respond to the needs of today’s society and whether policies are grounded in social and cultural realities. Based on this review, strategic challenges are identified that will shape the educational agenda in the coming years.

Cristina Mercader, along with an international team, examines the impact of artificial intelligence on participation in social networks. The chapter focuses on the development of critical thinking in response to AI-generated content and on the need to distinguish between human and artificial outputs. Through challenge-based learning and methodologies such as Design Thinking, concrete proposals are offered to address these challenges in different educational contexts.

These chapters highlight the active role of CRiEDO in reflecting on and researching new educational scenarios, contributing to the generation of key knowledge for the critical integration of artificial intelligence in education.
