Issue 70 of the journal “Fòrum. Journal of Educational Organisation and Management” has been published, focusing on educating cities and educational management.
Fòrum is an editorial project jointly promoted by Editorial Graó and the European Forum of Education Administrators in Catalonia (FEAEC). Currently, Aleix Barrera-Corominas and Anna Díaz Vicario are members of the editorial board, while Carme Armengol, Diego Castro, and Joaquín Gairín sit on the advisory board.
This issue explores the idea that the urban environment must go beyond school boundaries to establish itself as an agent of lifelong learning and social cohesion. In the opinion section, Joan Manuel del Pozo describes the city as an essential educational construct that safeguards plural values and ensures democratic protection for citizens. Meanwhile, Joan Subirats analyses how the framework of the educating city provides collective responses to challenges such as segregation and the digital revolution, proposing ecosystems that connect education and community. Complementing this perspective, Alicia La Terza presents the case of Córdoba (Argentina), highlighting the importance of local policies and networked learning.
The journal also documents practical experiences of transformation. It details Barcelona’s local action and international leadership, as well as the strategic partnership between CEE Can Rigol and the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat to promote full inclusion. Likewise, it describes the Nexes programme in Girona, aimed at creating educational opportunities through partnerships with the surrounding environment.
The issue concludes with an interview with Àngels Cadena Bordoll, the new president of FEAEC, who emphasises the need to strengthen shared governance and the real connection between educational centres and their territories. The community is invited to participate in this key space for debate in educational management.
