Uso problemático de las TIC en adolescentes

The research analyzes the habits of ICT use by Spanish adolescents between 12 and 17 years old, identifying problematic uses in the academic, social and family spheres. Using a concurrent mixed methodology, 906 questionnaires were applied to adolescents, 135 interviews were carried out with young people, teachers and counselors, and 5 focus groups were organized in which both young people and members of the educational community participated. The results confirmed that ICTs have a wide presence in the daily life of Spanish adolescents and suggest that their extensive use generates negative impacts on the academic, social and family environment of young people. It is not possible to speak of a generalized problematic use, although it is a phenomenon to be studied, for which, in addition, prevention and awareness actions must be considered.
