University Pedagogical Management Strategies Used in both Business Administration and Related Majors Offered at the Huetar Caribbean-Atlantic Region of Costa Rica

The doctoral graduation thesis entitled, “University Pedagogical Management Strategies Used in both Business Administration and Related Majors Offered at the Huetar Caribbean-Atlantic Region of Costa Rica” emerged as a response to the question: which and how are the university pedagogical management strategies used in Business Administration and related majors at universities located at the Huetar Caribbean-Atlantic region of Costa Rica according to the experience of faculty members, students and coordinators of Business Administration majors? Its objectives are to analyze both the university pedagogical management strategies and the development of training projects, research projects and social projection projects in those majors at Huetar Caribbean-Atlantic region universities; also to design a university pedagogical management model that includes region- specific strategies for the Huetar Caribbean-Atlantic region of Costa Rica to improve the quality of higher education. To this end, a qualitative educational research is conducted in an attempt to know how the universities’ pedagogical management process is, based on the experiences ,opinions and perceptions reported by the subjects of the study, in a culturally rich region that shows great socio- economic lacks. Given the problems detected in the target region, the theory is explored through different databases, and then, the field is observed through the lens of different case studies (qualitative method.) The data analysis leads to the conceptualization of the pedagogical management at the Huetar Caribbean-Atlantic region universities. This subsequently facilitates understanding the practice of university teaching. As a consequence, a planning model for the University pedagogical management is proposed. This model includes a group of interrelated and interdependent aspects that derive from both the mission and the vision of the universities.
