Presentation of the Pr-IA project at the 8th Teaching Innovation Conference

Aleix Barrera will take part in the 8th Teaching Innovation Conference, to be held on May 14 and 15 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where he will present the Teaching Innovation Group “Pr-IA: Innovation Group for the Integration of Artificial Intelligence with a Professional-Oriented Perspective”, an initiative he jointly coordinates with Professor Cristina Mercader.

This participation will serve to introduce the objectives and lines of work of this teaching innovation group, promoted at UAB, which was created with the aim of analyzing and addressing the challenges posed by the incorporation of artificial intelligence in higher education from a perspective clearly oriented toward student professionalization.

The main goal of the Pr-IA project is to create a stable space for reflection, training, and innovation around the use of artificial intelligence in curricula, promoting its critical, ethical, and creative integration. The group works to identify both the opportunities and limitations of AI in university teaching, as well as to propose strategies and interventions that contribute to improving teaching and learning processes and strengthening the professional preparation of future graduates.

Through Pr-IA, the project also seeks to make visible and systematize teaching practices that already incorporate the use of artificial intelligence, make them available to the broader teaching community, and generate cross-cutting guidelines that facilitate a coherent and contextualized curricular integration. The project also aims to support faculty members in developing digital competences, reduce resistance to the incorporation of new technologies, and strengthen the relationship between teachers and students in a context marked by the emergence of AI.

Aleix Barrera’s presentation at the 8th Teaching Innovation Conference will be an opportunity to share this collective experience, give visibility to the group’s work, and foster debate on the role of artificial intelligence as a key tool for pedagogical innovation and the improvement of university education with a clear professional orientation.
