New book on learning, digitalization and health

CRiEDO lecturers Cristina Mercader Juan and Laia Alguacil Mir are among the authors of the book “Conectados y conscientes”, a collective work resulting from an international research and cooperation project focused on the analysis of screen use.

The use of screen-based devices has become a central element of everyday life in an increasingly digitalized society. This constant presence of technology permeates all areas —from personal relationships to education, work, leisure and health— and raises new debates about how we learn, how we communicate, and how we preserve physical, mental and emotional well-being.

In this context, the book “Conectados y conscientes”has been published, stemming from an international research and cooperation project aimed at analyzing university students’ perceptions of screen use and its effects on health and learning processes. The publication brings together teaching and research staff from several universities in Spain and Latin America.

The book presents the main results and reflections derived from the project, offering a critical and well-grounded approach to the digital reality experienced by university students in different educational and cultural contexts. Through various chapters, it addresses the topic from multiple perspectives and educational levels, with the aim of better understanding the impact of screens and promoting a more conscious and responsible use of technology in higher education.

“Conectados y conscientes” thus constitutes a significant contribution to the current debate on digitalization, health and learning, and reinforces CRiEDO’s commitment to research in education, pedagogical innovation and digital transformation.
