Researcher and educator Luz María Faneyte Barboza is conducting a research stay during September 2026 at CRiEDO (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), under the supervision of Dr. Joaquín Gairín Sallán. During this stay, she is developing work focused on recovering and updating classical pedagogical thought to address current school dynamics.
Her doctoral research focuses on analyzing the concepts of pedagogical authority proposed by classical authors—Herbart, Kant, Freinet, Comenius, and Rousseau—in order to draw fundamental lessons for children’s education today. The main goal of her stay is to characterize these perspectives, understand their current relevance, and propose guiding principles to redefine pedagogical authority within Colombian educational institutions, bridging the gap between pedagogical tradition and 21st-century needs.
She is currently affiliated with the Institución Etnoeducativa de Pontezuela and has worked as a teacher trainer in the *Todos a Aprender* program (now PTAFI 2.0) of Colombia’s Ministry of National Education. She is also a university lecturer at the Institución Universitaria Mayor de Cartagena in the Administration and Tourism program.
Luz María comes from Colombia and is a PhD student in Educational Sciences at Universidad de San Buenaventura Medellín. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences, a teaching degree (*Normalista Superior*) with an emphasis in Social Sciences, and a degree in Tourism Administration.
Her research stay is taking place under a leave granted by the Department of Education of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, where she resides.
