CRiEDO researchers contribute to an international publication on the evaluation of the impact of university extension in Central America.
Members of CRiEDO have participated in the publication of the book University Extension in Central America: Approaches, Methods and Practices for Impact Evaluation, a collective work that examines the conceptual, methodological and operational foundations of university extension and its contribution to the social and educational development of communities.
CRiEDO’s contribution has been particularly significant both in the editorial coordination of the volume and in the authorship of several chapters. Professor Cecilia Inés Suárez-Rivarola served as a member of the Editorial Committee responsible for the coordination, compilation and review of the publication, and also co-authored Chapter 9 together with Professor Diego Castro. This chapter presents the E.D.E.S.U. Model (Stages of Development of University Extension Model), a framework designed to analyse and assess the level of development of university extension practices.
In addition, Professor Joaquín Gairín is co-author of Chapter 3, which explores the foundations of a culture of equity in university extension, while Professor Aleix Barrera-Corominas contributed to Chapter 7, focused on the identification and analysis of good practices in university extension.
The book is one of the outcomes of the European project FUESE, in which CRiEDO participates as a partner. The project is coordinated by the Specialized University of the Americas (UDELAS, Panama) and is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme. The FUESE consortium brings together 12 Central American institutions and two European institutions, whose members have contributed experiences, reflections and evidence to advance the understanding and evaluation of the impact of university extension activities.
