CRiEDO participates in FIET Global 2026

From 5 to 8 May 2026, CRiEDO members and professors Cristina Mercader and Joaquín Gairín participated in FIET Global 2026, held at the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH) in Riobamba, Ecuador.

The International Forum on Education and Technology (FIET) is an annual international conference that brings together researchers, educators, and professionals from the fields of education and technology to examine the main challenges facing education in today’s digital context. Organized on a rotating basis among the universities that make up the consortium, FIET serves as a space for dialogue, debate, and the collective construction of knowledge on the transformative role of education and technology in contemporary society.

The conference is structured around two complementary forums: a technical forum aimed at the consortium’s research groups and an open forum addressed to the wider educational community. In this edition, discussions and contributions were organized around three major thematic areas.

The first area, focused on educational processes in digital environments, encouraged participants to rethink teaching and learning dynamics through educational policies, new models of knowledge construction, learning spaces, and teacher education. Contributions explored how digitalization and artificial intelligence are transforming educational settings, creating new ways of accessing, producing, and disseminating knowledge while fostering more inclusive, collaborative, and adaptable pedagogical practices.

The second area addressed the integration of technological innovation in education and its impact on society. Discussions focused on the relationship between science, technology, and culture, as well as the need to connect scientific advances with real educational needs. Particular emphasis was placed on knowledge transfer, the democratization of access to innovation, and the development of educational models suited to the challenges of the digital era.

Finally, the third area focused on the development of responsible digital citizenship. This space for reflection examined the ethical and social implications of living and interacting in digital environments, especially in a context increasingly shaped by algorithms and artificial intelligence. Contributions highlighted the importance of promoting a digital culture based on democratic values, critical thinking, inclusion, and respect for citizens’ rights and responsibilities within the knowledge society.

CRiEDO’s participation in this international forum reinforces its commitment to research, educational innovation, and international academic cooperation, contributing to the discussion on the challenges and opportunities arising from the digital transformation of education.
