On May 6, 7, and 8, several members of CRiEDO presented their research at the 19th International Congress on Education and Innovation (CIEI 2026).
The first contribution was delivered by Professors Laia Alguacil and Laia Vila, who presented the paper entitled “Towards a more inclusive university teaching: the potential of digital technologies for inclusion.” This study analyses how university faculty use digital technologies in higher education to address students’ needs from an inclusive perspective. Specifically, it examines which resources are used, how they are integrated, and the training needs identified.
The second contribution was a symposium developed by Professors Laia Alguacil, Aleix Barrera, Cristina Mercader, and Micaela De Armans, coordinated by Professor Fernando Lara (University of Granada). Within the framework of the EdU-InA project, the symposium explored university teachers’ knowledge, uses, and positioning regarding generative artificial intelligence.
The International Congress on Education and Innovation (CIEI), organized by the AREA Research Group at the University of Granada, held its 19th edition this year in both on-site and virtual formats, hosted by Riga Technical University Liepaja Academy (Latvia), under the theme “Transforming education for a shared future.” The congress is aimed at researchers, education professionals, and students interested in educational innovation, offering the possibility to participate both in person and online.
Since 2019, CIEI has brought together more than 2,000 participants per edition and has established itself as an international benchmark in the field of education, particularly since its 13th edition held in Granada. Since then, it has adopted an itinerant format and has been held in cities such as Coimbra, Florence, Yucatán, Santiago de Chile, and Guatemala City, in collaboration with various academic institutions.
