Innovation Experiences in Euskadi

Members of EDO-UAB take part of an Inter Visitation in Euskadi in order to get to know different experiences of training and innovation in educational institutions. 

From 2nd to 6th of February, several EDO-UAB members have visited some primary and secondary educational institutions as well as evaluation centers and innovation and educational counsel centers.

The first institution was ISEI-IVEI, Basque Institute of evaluation of non university education; an institution that belongs to Education, Linguistic Policies and Culture Department of Basque Government. IVEI-ISEI is in charge of several evaluation and research projects such as diagnostic evaluation of education centers in all Euskadi, or longitudinal research about Trilingual Education Framework.


The second one was Berritzegune Nagusia at Barakaldo, a support center of education training and innovation. Berritzegunes (literally, “a place where innovate”) are counsel centers for non university institutions. They have a central Berritzegune and 18 territorial centers, which collaborate in elaborating, managing, assessing and evaluating zonal plans of training, as well as training teachers and managing available resources for Special Education Needs.

The third day EDO group visited TKNIKA, an innovation center for Vocational Training and ongoing professional development. This center, which is also an Institution of the Education Department, is focused on research with the aim of improving Vocational Training in Euskadi. Their main purpose is the progress and improvement of technological equipment that education centers have, as well as create collaboration networks and bond with companies, university research departments, technological centers and consultants of advances managing services.

The last two organizations were in Donostia: Amaraberri public school and EASO Polytechnic. Amaraberri is the mother center of a innovative center network and which have amazing results in diagnostic evaluation. Their main feature is the way they ensemble their pupils and collaborative learning. Specifically, the center visited uses as common thread the production of papers and projects for share through their own radio, television, press and website.

EASO Polytechnic (Specific Institute of Superior Vocational Training) was a place to share experiences linked to the collaboration between education institutions and companies, which allows adapt training processes to their reality in Euskadi, and, at the same time, it nourishes to them with tools and technology for learning in Vocational Training.

This Inter Visitation has happened thanks to the economic support received by Jaume Vicens Vives distinction, given to the UAB Organization of Educational Institutions professors from in their 2012 edition.
