On November 12, 13, and 14, the project coordinators attended the XVIII CIOIE, presenting it to experts in the field of Organization and Management of Educational Institutions.
The emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in 2022 marked a turning point in higher education. In response to this challenge, the EdU-InA: Policies and Practices on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education project, coordinated by Cristina Mercader and Aleix Barrera, aims to analyze how this technology is being integrated into university teaching and what policies are being implemented to ensure its efficient, equitable, and ethical use.
The project, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Ref. PID2023-149069OA-I00), involves collaboration among six Spanish universities: University of Vigo, University of Granada, University of León, Complutense University of Madrid, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and Mondragon Unibertsitatea. The research combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies (surveys, interviews, focus groups, and document analysis) with the participation of faculty, students, and university leadership teams.
The expected outcomes include:
- A diagnosis of faculty and student knowledge and uses of generative AI.
- Identification of best practices and challenges for its incorporation into curricula.
- Design of a roadmap to help universities implement evidence-based policies and strategies.
This project seeks to prepare universities to face the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Generative AI), improving educational quality and social and economic competitiveness. In addition, the materials and tools developed will be openly accessible to facilitate knowledge transfer and faculty training.
