Obtaining funding from the Ministry for the research project on AI and university education.
Last July 23, the call for R+D+i projects from the Ministry of Science and Innovation was provisionally resolved within the framework of the state program of projects aimed at the generation of knowledge.
The CRiEDO obtained a new funding channel of €90,625.00 (Ref. PID2023-149069OA-I00) to implement the EdU-InA project: Policies and Practices on Generative Artificial Intelligence in university education. 23 researchers from the University of Vigo, University of Granada, University of León, Complutense University of Madrid, Open University of Catalonia and Autonomous University of Barcelona are participating. The project will be coordinated by Professor Cristina Mercader and Professor Aleix Barrera from EDO UAB.
Research in education has not yet deepened either in Spain or internationally, the use, policies and impact of AI in the university context.
The EdU-InA project aims to: (1) Help teachers make the most of generative AI for their teaching, adapting study plans and assessment activities to the real needs of the labor market in which generative AI is used and (2) help leaders adapt universities and prepare future professionals to integrate generative AI, based on research and not on expectations, fears or misconceptions.
For this, EdU-InA pursues two objectives:
- Analyze the educational practices of generative Artificial Intelligence in university education (students, teachers and study plans):
- Analyze policies and opinions on the implementation of generative Artificial Intelligence in university education:
The study will be carried out in the 6 member universities of the project, which represent the various areas of Spain. The project will collect data through surveys (professors and students), interviews and discussion groups (professors, experts and university leaders) and documentary analysis (strategies, policies and study plans).
In short, EdU-InA contributes to the digital transformation of universities and its results will have an impact on university management in the deployment of effective, equitable and ethical policies and practices on generative AI in education.
