Start of the new INDUCTEACHING project

The new INDUCTEACHING project begins, it is a new project to improve initial training of Primary Education teachers.
The current pandemic situation has forced us to rethink all the key dimensions of social participation, placing both the group of teachers, as well as the rest of educational and social agents, facing the challenge of responding to the new challenges that this situation has posed for schools and for all their professionals. Thus, we are faced with the need to generate new knowledge and proposals for action that affect the improvement of initial teacher training and that allow adapting this initial training to the new educational needs that have emerged and that will continue to emerge.
Precisely, one of these needs is linked to the professional orientation processes focused on trafficking to the concrete labor reality of the teachers, that is, the schools. School is where future graduates and future graduates in Primary Education will face the challenges of the teaching profession before which they will have to make decisions. These should respond to the challenges linked to a growing number of skills, experiences, formats, methodologies, strategies, expectations management, itineraries, etc., that are demanded of educational centers.
In this sense, the INDUCTEACHING project - a proposal for an induction model between initial training and teaching in Primary - coordinated by professor Patricia Olmos and with a budget of € 25,000, intends to contribute and provide evidence that allows a strategic change and improve the initial training of Primary Education teachers. To do this, it will focus on the transition to the profession -from the last year of initial training and with continuity during the first year of teaching professional practice-, through the creation of a collaborative network (face-to-face and virtual) between educational centers and universities that work on the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and validation of induction processes to the profession.
INDUCTEACHING will allow a greater projection of the Bachelor's degree in Primary Education towards the workplace and will mean added value for the students of the education faculties involved. The project must allow the consolidation of a quality transition / induction program between undergraduate studies and the professional practice of new teachers, configuring an innovative training model.
The INDUCTEACHING project will take into account the contributions made in the framework of the MIF1 and the experiences that, in this regard, are currently being carried out in some specialized teacher training such as secondary school - see the transition program between initial training and secondary education. teaching in secondary at the ICE-Faculty of Education Sciences UAB and the Department of Education. Also the proposal for specific internship training that the Department of Education carries out jointly with the Institutes of Education Sciences (ICE) of the Catalan universities - introductory course to the teaching task, based on RESOLUTION EDU / 2637/2020 , of October 23, approving the instructions on the induction course, the initial trial period and the suitability test for the interim teaching staff.
