From 1st of September until 31st of October, Ferra Gerson Edgar, a PhD student of Puebla (Mexico) has completed his academic stay in EDO-UAB.

During the period between the 1st of September and the 31st of October of 2016, Mr. Gerson Edgar Ferra Torres (Mexico), made an academic stay at the headquarters of the UAB Organizational Development Team (EDO). Mr. Ferra is a doctoral student in Systems and Educational Environments at the Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico and he is currently developing the doctoral research entitled "Impact of the Program for Teaching Professional Development in changing academic and institutional practices of normal schools". Ferra is also a full Professor at the Meritorious Normal School Veracruzana "Enrique C. Rebsamen" training institution of teachers in basic education (preschool, primary and secondary education) located in Xalapa, Veracruz.

The purpose of the stay has been to concrete the object of study, focusing on education policy and to define the most appropriate research methodology. Supervised and guided by Joaquín Gairín Sallán, this period of time at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona allowed him to finalize the design and to develop two instruments of data collection, the first type a diagnostic-impact of the program and the second, a tool to assess the conditions of PRODEP policy in teaching training institutions. Among other activities, he also has been consulting specialized literature to support the conceptual and theoretical framework of his research

Within the research project has been defined that, in order to assess change from the implementation of an educational public policy, it can be identified dimensions and different criteria, among which are: cause and effect of the program, quality assessment, decision making and accountability, institutional mechanisms, substantive functions of higher education, regulation of academic work and, organizational and disciplinary spaces.

The stay has also facilitated to establish alliances that allow the incorporation of the Normal School Rébsamen at the Support for Educational Management Network (RedAGE) for the purpose of boosting the ties of international cooperation and collaboration between Spain and Institutions of Higher Education in Latin America .
