Organizational aspects for intervention with vulnerable groups

On November 25th, in Zaragoza, this symposium took place within the framework of the XIV Interuniversity Congress of Organization of Educational Institutions (CIOIE).
Coordinated by Joaquín Gairín (EDO-UAB) with the participation of Carme Armengol EDO-UAB), Aleix Barrera-Corominas (EDO-UAB), Inmaculada Gómez-Jarabo (U. Complutense de Madrid), Asunción Manzanares Castilla la Mancha), Cristina Mercader (EDO-UAB), José Luis Muñoz (EDO-UAB) and Primitivo Sánchez (U. Complutense de Madrid), the purpose of the contribution was to deepen on methodologies and specific intervention strategies related to vulnerable groups, providing tools to improve the system and educational institutions.
The contributions presented focus on the levels of post-compulsory education, as it is understood that this is where the challenge of expanding the possibilities of training and promotion of vulnerable groups is located. Additionally, these contributions are mainly part of several international and national projects (ACCEDES, IDEAS; RETOS) developed by the EDO Research Group, in order to show the improvements of the projects and derived publications through its web: http://edo.uab.cat/en, or by people related to it.
The first contribution analysed the special relationships that schools should have with the environment and it presented some significant proposals. The second and third contributions presented the results of recent studies, providing a methodology/instrument for the identification of vulnerable groups and strategies for orientation and tutoring (including the necessary reference to the tutorial plans) for the intervention. Finally, the last contribution was linked to the processes of teacher training, key, although not unique, in any improvement process.
But beyond the value of the various contributions, the idea that defines what we want to underline is as important as advancing concrete proposals that make possible to carry out principles and proposals for intervention. Thus, strategies become concretions oriented to transform ideas into practices and to overcome simple enunciation of approaches.
This symposium was held on the 25th of November, at 09:00 hours, within the framework of the XIV Interuniversity Congress of Organization of Educational Institutions (CIOIE), held in Zaragoza on the 24th , 25th and 26th of November, under the theme "Globalization and Educational Institutions".
