ICTs in educational contexts: new organizational and professional challenges
On 26th of November, in Zaragoza, this Symposium took place within the framework of the XIV Interuniversity Congress of Organization of Educational Institutions (CIOIE).
Coordinated by Diego Castro (EDO-UAB), with the participation of Anna Diaz (EDO-UAB), Josep Maria Silva (Department of Education, Generalitat de Catalunya) and Pablo Sánchez (U. De Castilla la Mancha) the symposium was composed of 4 contributions that covered the organizational challenges of the use of ICT in schools, from the most general to the most particular focus.
First, the symposium explored how the introduction of ICT in education has led to new challenges for teachers. The presentation defined what objectives are intended and to what areas of teaching life it affects. Secondly, an investigation whose purpose is to evaluate the impact of the new technologies in the classrooms of compulsory education schools in Spain was presented. The proposal starts from previous studies and tries to complete them by concretizing the topic 'impact of ICT in the classroom of compulsory education centres from teachers’ perspective' considering three dimensions: impact on teachers (professional development and training on ICT, attitudes towards ICT, resistance and teaching process: prevention and treatment of abuse and misuse), students (learning process: tasks, activities, competences, motivation towards learning and, coexistence and climate) and the context (classroom management, institutional context and relations with external environment). Thirdly, a study focused on the teachers who participate in the project of Institutes of Technological Innovation of the Community of Madrid was shown. Finally, we discussed how the emergence of ICTs in classrooms in our country's schools has raised a new challenge for education professionals: how to guarantee the safe use of ICT in the school environment.
This symposium was held on November 26th, at 11:00 am, within the framework of the XIV Interuniversity Congress of Organization of Educational Institutions (CIOIE), held in Zaragoza on the 24th, 25th and 26th of November under the theme "Globalization And Educational Institutions”.
