Leadership in educational organizations

The No. 48/1 of EDUCATE, dedicated to "Leadership in educational organizations: New Developments" has been coordinated by Prof. Manuel Lorenzo Delgado, coordinator of EDO of University of Granada, and Maria Garcia Carmona, lecturer of the same university. The magazine includes input from teachers in the Autonomous Metropolitan University of Mexico, University of Extremadura, University of Granada and University of Santiago de Compostela.

According to the coordinators, the origin of the monograph addresses the concern that have attracted attention since fifteen or twenty years ago relating to leadership, which has had two distinct phases: an initial review of the systematic and scientific production relating to this field, which crystallizes with the thematic issue of 2005 of  Spanish Journal of Pedagogy, "The leadership in educational organizations: review and outlook" and a thematic issue  in the journal School, published the same year, under the title "pedagogical leadership. "The second stage related to the amplification of perspectives in the field of study from the point of view of the subject (leadership of the student, of the leaders, the AMPAs, etc. ..) as well as the same field and the type of leadership causes political, religious, sports, women, military…leadership.

The articles that integrate the monograph seek to answer to these two aspects of research, with this current focus on plural leadership, understood through community leadership, which means taking a look that transcends the individualistic explanations and theories on environmental leadership, placing it in the school system, or part of this as a backdrop and context for their development and responding to proposals to build educational communities (communities of practice, learning, ...) etc.

Undoubtedly, the new issue of the journal EDUCAR (available soon at http://ddd.uab.cat/record/5029 ) represents an update and review of the current state of leadership in educational environment in Spain.
