CRiEDO professor and researcher Saida López Crespo leads the DEINT-IA project: School Leadership and Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Compulsory Secondary Education Centers, a pre-competitive research project funded by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) with a grant of €12,260.
The project will analyze how school leadership teams in Compulsory Secondary Education centers across Catalonia are addressing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into management, organizational, and educational leadership processes. The research will focus on identifying the strategies driven by leadership teams, the challenges they face, and the factors influencing decision-making in this area.
This research comes in response to an accelerated digital transformation, where the emergence of AI is changing educational practices and presenting new pedagogical, organizational, and ethical challenges. In this scenario, understanding the role of school leaders is key to promoting a responsible and effective integration of these technologies in educational institutions.
The main objectives of the project are:
- Identify the impact of AI on the operation of educational institutions.
- Describe the strategic, pedagogical, and organizational actions driven by leadership teams.
- Analyze the factors influencing decision-making regarding the integration of AI.
- Develop guidelines and identify best practices to foster a responsible, ethical, and effective implementation of this technology.
The findings of this research will provide evidence to guide school leadership teams and educational authorities in defining strategies and policies for AI integration, as well as practical recommendations to encourage knowledge transfer across the entire educational community.
