The last May 12th, the First CEJFE/EDO Day of ¨Knowledge and Learning for Leaders of Organizations¨, jointly organized by CEJFE and the Group of Organizational Development (SGR2009-397) of Autonomous University of Barcelona, took place at the Center for Legal Studies and Specialized Training(CEJFE).

The completion of this activity is a part of various collaborative activities carried out by both institutions. Among all the activities, one should be highlighted is the First International Conference of EDO, ¨New training strategies for organizations¨, and the second conference has already be scheduled in May, 2012. The collaboration also emphasizes  in the project ¨Analysis of Procedures for the creation and management of knowledge through communities of professional practice in Public Administration¨, which is also a participant of the Health Protection Agency (APS) of Generalitat of Catalonia and the School of Public Administration of Catalonia.

The conference brought together over 350 participants from public administration and business management as well as private stakeholders in the management of knowledge, which has become a key element in the 21st century for those organizations seeking efficiency and effectiveness. In this sense, the conference was structured in a round-table form, coordinated by Cristina Garcia Revaliente (Director of Training AEFOL/EXPOLEARNING), in which speakers from participating companies can be recognized nationally and internationally. Speakers include: Cristina Rodríguez-Morcón Enríquez (Uria & Menéndez); Laura Casado Alarcón (Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira); Josep Palet Pujol (Deloitte); Maria Salamero Sansalvadó (ADN-Agbar); Andrés Bauzá Ortúñez (Asepeyo) i Javier Perera de Gregorio i José Miguel Tudela Olivares (Enagás).

It is also necessary to highlight the presence of Admiral Stephen Mosque who made the presentation ¨Open Innovation (innovació oberta) in the public sector¨, where under a scenario the number of services has increased and  resources for reinventing the role of public services have decreased, regardless of whether the provision thereof is made directly by government organizations or service providers. In all the cases, Admiral believes the government should not be a retailer of services, but a platform manager.

A new book, ¨Handbook of Research on Communities of Practice for Organizational Management and Networking¨, edited by Eduardo Bueno and Olga Rivera, and the results of the International Conference EDO, led by Dr. Joaquin Gairín, were also distributed on the day.
