First IDEAS Meeting

From 17th to 20th of February some EDO-UAB Members have travelled to Costa Rica in order to start actions related to the progress of IDEAS project “Initiatives for educational and socio-community development” that is developed in collaboration with Technological Institute of Costa Rica and with the financial support of the European Union through PROEDUCA program.

This visit has allowed to the International team that will participate in IDEAS Project to settle in the practice the activities that will be performed during the development of the project. Specifically, they have worked in order to specify the formative model that will be displayed, as well as visiting the night schools that will participate in the Project in order to get to know closer their reality. In these visits they made interviews and meetings with some managers, teachers and students in order to get to know specific problems that affects them, as well as the system determinants, the surroundings, and the institution that could act as facilitators and barriers of the academic activity.

Additionally, they have participated in a institutional coordination meeting where it was involved: Public Education Minister of Costa Rica, represented by Young and Adult Education Director and Student Life Director; and the people responsible of PROEDUCA program in their region. For making the most of the trip, they meet with the Institute of Professional Development “Uladislao Gámez Salano” in order to get to know with more detail the teachers’ formation model implanted in their region and, thus, adapt the IDEAS proposal to their reality.
