Evaluation tool for the transfer of training programmes of university teachers

A team with members from different departments and universities led by Dr. Monica Feixas works on the validation of an instrument of evaluation of the transfer of university teaching training.
Dr. Monica Feixas is the coordinator of the project "Development of an evaluation tool for the transfer of training programmes of university teachers", funded by the RED-U (National Network of University Teaching ), whose main objective is validate an instrument for evaluating the transfer of university teaching training which is extensible to any context of higher education.
The current study aims to apply the instrument "Learning Transfer System Inventory" (LTSI) of Holton & Bates (1998, 2000) to analyze, in different teaching training programs, the educational activities that enhance the development of basic generic skills for teaching practice. In order to do it, (1) those training activities will be selected from the different participating universities, which are aimed to develop a specific set of skills. Then (2) it will valuate the effectiveness of those activities, using the instrument LTSI_HE with adaptation to thecontext of Spanish university and the factors that integrate it as diagnostic elements and evaluation of the transfer of teaching training. In addition, (3) deferred evaluations of training programmes will be carried out to analyse the capacity of predictive factors such as alternative measures of transfer. The diagnosis of transfer factors, linked to competencial development and its evaluation, will make concrete proposals on how to improve the effectiveness of teaching training of the teaching staff, and to guide decision-making to improve the same area in Spanish universities.
The research part of collaborative work between the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Sant Gallen and Zurich Pedagogy College (specifically the research groups GIPE, EDO and Professor Franziska Zellweger) with Dr. Elwood F. Holton, professor of Louisiana State University (USA), one of the world leading figures on the development of human resources and the effectiveness of continuing training.
