Members of CRiEDO participated in the 5th International Congress on Educational Management: Governance and Leadership for Global Justice, organized by RedAGE and held on 29–30 July 2026 at Universidad ORT Uruguay in Montevideo, Uruguay. The congress brought together researchers and professionals in educational management and leadership to share research findings and experiences aimed at fostering more equitable and sustainable educational governance.
CRiEDO played a prominent role in the congress, contributing research on generative artificial intelligence, educational governance, institutional leadership, and innovation and change processes in educational institutions.
Professor Joaquín Gairín delivered the opening keynote address and presented the paper “Liderazgo del equipo directivo: estrategias de innovación del plan de mejoramiento educativo en centros escolares vulnerables”, co-authored with Daniel Villarroel Montaner, from Fundación Montaner (Chile) and a CRiEDO collaborator. He also participated in the open session on the role of networks in transforming educational management, where he introduced the Educational Management Support Network (RedAGE), an international non-profit scientific association that promotes the improvement of educational management across Ibero-America and of which he serves as President.
Professors Joaquín Gairín and Aleix Barrera-Corominas also took part in the publishers’ session, where they presented the RedAGE Publications series and Educar, the academic journal published by the Department of Applied Pedagogy at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Within this framework, Aleix Barrera-Corominas and Micaela de Armas-Bertossi prepared the paper “Inteligencia artificial y educación superior: preocupaciones de los gestores sobre su integración en la docencia”, developed as part of the EdU-InA: Policies and Practices on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education project. The study analyses the concerns of university management teams regarding the integration of generative artificial intelligence into teaching. The findings show that concern is the predominant emotion, mainly linked to ethical, legal, security, and reliability issues associated with this technology. The research highlights the need to promote institutional policies that support the responsible integration of AI in universities.
The congress also featured the presentation of the paper “Cartografía de procesos de innovación y cambio: consulta a expertos”, authored by María Inés Vázquez (RedAGE), Micaela de Armas-Bertossi (CRiEDO), Patricia Boragno, Fernanda Argenta, Eliana Díaz, Maximiliano Zito, and Pietro Cavallero. The study presents the results of a consultation with experts in educational management and innovation, identifying the key factors that shape innovation and change processes in educational institutions. Its conclusions underline the complexity of these processes and the importance of adopting holistic and participatory approaches to support their successful implementation.
CRiEDO’s participation in this international congress reinforces the centre’s commitment to research on educational governance, leadership, and transformation, while further strengthening its international presence and collaboration within RedAGE as a platform for generating and exchanging knowledge to improve educational management.
