Mathias Thorborg visits our Center for Research and Studies for Organizational Development during March and April.

Mathias Thorborg is educated as primary and lower secondary school teacher and subsequently he has a master in educational psychology. After he obtained his master degree, he had a position as a research assistant on projects revolving around food pedagogies and school meal. He started his PhD in 2020 and he will hand in his dissertation in the first half of 2023.

His PhD project focuses on teacher collaboration in the Danish primary and lower secondary school and he works with process-theoretical descriptions of collaboration and the relationship between collaboration, teaching practices and teachers’ professional learning and development. He applies a qualitative methodology centered on shadowing observations of teachers, interviews with teachers and school leaders, observations of meeting routines and document analysis. It is his hope that his project can contribute with a perspective on teacher collaboration that captures the ways in which collaboration enters into and arises as part of the organizational life of the school.

During his visit, he will mainly be working with the development of an analytical framework for analyzing his empirical material. Furthermore, it is his hope that to get an opportunity to present his work in progress and participate in relevant research fora.

While he doesn’t expect to produce a specific research output during his stay, he hope to be able to contribute to discussions in CRiEDO’s area of research. In his words “it is a great opportunity to experience a different research setting and work environment than my own and to be inspired by researchers in my future field of research”. This visit can lay grounds for future collaborations between researchers at CRiEDO and Mr. Thorborg.
