Joaquín Gairín and Patricia Olmos, publish "Guidance strategies and tutorial action: tools that can prevent early school leaving".

Joaquín Gairín and Patricia Olmos coordinate the Orienta4YEL project from our center, a European project that supports the educational and social inclusion of young people at risk of leaving school prematurely. This project also seeks to promote more inclusive centers, through guidance mechanisms and tutorial action that start from the diagnosis of risk factors in each context, the establishment of learning networks focused on early abandonment and the identification of aspects effective leadership in educational institutions.

In this contribution our colleagues make an analysis of the first results obtained in the framework of the Orienta4YEL project. So far, 13 guidance and tutorial action strategies have been designed - based on the previous diagnosis of the risk factors of TEA in a total of 48 European secondary education institutions - which are currently being implemented. The strategies focus on supporting multiple risk factors related to TEA (personal, family, institutional, social and relational), with the strategies prioritized by the centers for their application being those focused on the design of personalized plans, mentoring, establishing links with the community, the orientation curriculum, supporting educational transitions, and supporting the building and management of healthy relationships.
