O4VET Project follow-up Meeting

On February 7, an online meeting was held to follow up on the European O4VET project, coordinated by Patricia Olmos and funded by the Erasmus+ program.

The main objective of this project, called “Orienta4VET – VET: an attractive and viable path. Innovating in VET through orientation processes and exploring flexible and diversified opportunities in VET”, is to improve access and retention of students in Vocational Training (VET). During the meeting, the three key results of the project were monitored:

  • Interactive Guide for the Implementation of Guidance in VET and Tutorial Strategies/Actions: Aimed at providing effective tools and strategies for counselors and teachers in the field of VET.
  • Interactive Map: An accessible and useful tool for counselors, teachers, young people, researchers, educational centers and other educational agents, with the aim of improving navigation in the field of VET.
  • MOOC: An innovative training resource that will contribute to the development of capabilities of educational agents in the implementation of guidance strategies and tutorial action.

The O4VET project, with researchers from the Leiria Polytechnic Institute (Portugal), the Universitaet Bremen (Germany), the Universidadea din Bucuresti (Romania) and the Aarhus Universitet (Denmark), focuses on four crucial operational objectives:

  • Make FP visible in each of the contexts, identifying and analyzing its main problems and their impact.
  • Identify the main barriers of VET in the territories and analyze their impact, taking as reference indicators the personal, educational/formative, business and/or productive development of the territory, socio-labor or socio-professional.
  • Explore the potentiality and viability of alternative routes that facilitate the diversification and flexibility of access opportunities to VET (or the educational/formative re-entry through professional itineraries).
  • Implement appropriate guidance and tutorial action strategies in VET itineraries and analyze their impact.

With these initiatives, the O4VET project seeks to contribute significantly to the strengthening of Vocational Training in Europe and to improve the educational and professional prospects of students with the greatest difficulties.
