Juan Antonio Lopez, a member of EDO-UGR, participates in the VII Conference of the State Association of University Programs for the Elderly People(AEPUM) that takes place from February 29 to March 2 in La Laguna.

The European Commission has declared 2012 as "European Year on Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity". On this occasion, there will be various activities and events scheduled in each member country at national, regional and local levels, which will serve to demonstrate that the EU is undergoing a significant demographic change, as the population is living longer lives and is healthier.

The University Forum and Society is intending to serve as a platform to take a balance of the contribution of Spanish experiences developed in the generically, Universities for Elderly People, practically presents in all public and private universities, and groups in the State Association of University Programs for Elderly People (AEPUM).

Professor Juan Antonio Lopez, a professor at the University of Granada and EDO team member will participate in this forum presenting the paper "Life-long learning: the role of Popular Universities". López is Doctor of the Department of Didactics and School Organization of the University of Granada. He has a BA degree in Psychopedagogy with a distinguish graduation from the same university. He teaches and carries out research in the Research Group AREA (Analysis of Educational Reality in Andalucia). His research interests are related to New Technologies Applied to Education and Non-formal and differentiated education .

The team EDO has developed and develops some research related to the access of minorities to the University, as well as adults. Reviewing on this regard, in the "Projects" the details of the project "Access to university for the elderly and non-degree academic study", which is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and completed in 2010, and the project "ACCEDES: The access and academic success of vulnerable groups in dangerous environments in Latin America", currently underway and funded under the III ALFA call of the European Commission.
