Follow-up of Orienta4YEL actions

Follow-up of Orienta4YEL actions to tackle early school leaving from the Torras i Bages.
On Monday May 31, the members of the Cried José Luís Muñoz and Jordi Codina held a meeting with teachers and students from the Torras i Bages institute in Hospitalet de Llobregat. The objective of the meeting was to collect data to develop the final evaluation of the actions that this educational institution is carrying out to combat early school leaving within the framework of the Orienta4YEL Project.
The Torras i Bages institute works on two main strategies: family support / school-family commitment; and teacher training: didactic strategies and practices for educational success.
Regarding the strategy of family support / school-family commitment, the institute aims to improve communication with families and the educational community as a whole by using a corporate email from Google's educational G-suite, and also through of an educational management application (Alexia) that incorporates messaging and enables immediate communication with families from an APP that facilitates monitoring of each student (attendance, academic progress, absences excuses, etc.). On the other hand, the impulse of the Family Space Project is specified with the treatment of topics of interest to the families of the students that, due to the restrictions derived from the Covidien-19 pandemic, are being addressed virtually. The following school year we want to offer Catalan classes for families.
Regarding the teacher training strategy (didactic strategies and practices for educational success), the institute is offering its teachers the option of participating in a Group of the Basic Competences Network. This is the case of courses to promote reading, assessment by competencies and digital tools for teaching.
Both teachers and parents highlight the positive impact that this initiative is having on relationships, emotional well-being, positive self-perception towards learning ability, educational achievement, and involvement in community activities in general.
