Joaquín Gairín, EDO's director, has been appointed Dean of the Educational Sciences faculty of UAB.
The teacher Joaquín Gairín has been appointed Dean of the Educational Sciences Faculty of the Autonomous University of Barcelona in an extraordinary session of the Faculty Board held on the 3rd of November, and as a consequence, he will leave open the seat of Director of the Applied Pedagogy Department.
Different professionals of the faculty compound his government team. Albert Casals Ibáñez will be the secretary and vice dean of Internships, Anna Marbà Tallada, the vice dean of Studies, Antoni Santisteban Fernández vice dean of Quality and Innovation and Marta Bertrán Tarres vice dean of Students and Mobility.
Dr. Gairin started his employment relationship with UAB in 1981, and he is a University Professor of Educational Organization since 1995. Over these 34 years of work activity in UAB he has been always in some management positions, of a greater or lesser magnitude, being coordinator of night shift studies of Literature Faculty (1984-1988), director of DOE area (1987-1990), Secretary of the Department of Pedagogy and Didactics (1987-1992), Vice Dean of Teachers and Studies (1990-1992), Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences (1993-1996), Director of the Applied Pedagogy Department (1996-1998; 2011-2013) and Director of the Institute of Educational Sciences (1998-2002).
Moreover, Gairin was the impeller of the educational organization studies in UAB, whose teachers’ team received in 2012 the Jaume Vicens Vives award for their teacher training quality and innovation. Likewise, since 1999 he has been the Director of the Organizational development team, a research group which has received in 2005, 2009 and 2014 the appreciation as a consolidated research team from the Generalitat of Catalonia.
