Communities of Professional Practice

Now available the results of the Project “Creation and management of knowledge in online communities of professional practice”.
The publishing house Wolters Kluwer has recently published the book “Communities of professional practice. Creation, development and assessment”, which collects the results of the Project “Creation and management of knowledge in online communities of professional practice” (EDU2010-18506), coordinated by Joaquín Gairín and funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
The paper, that was elaborated by the members of the research team, develops the following chapters: creation of communities of professional practice, the development of those, a guide for self-assessment of the CoP, strategies and tools for improvement, two experiences about communities of practice in the educational and social field, CoP in the Public Administration, CoP in the productive system and assessment and certification of the non formal and informal learning.
The Research, which began in 2011, pursued as the main purpose to evaluate, propose and validate processes of creation and management knowledge in online communities of professional practice. Its goals were centered to analyze the performance of the knowledge management in successful communities, to establish standards for improvement and to validate processes for getting recognition of the informal learning that is caused as a consequence of the collaborative work.
