Under the framework of the convocation of ALFA III, UAB sings a contract of € 899,062 with European Commission for the project "Access to and academic success of vulnerable groups in dangerous environments in Latin-America", which will be coordinated by Organizational Development Team (EDO) led by Dr. Joaquín Gairín Sallán.

Last December, the Rector of the UAB signed the cooperation agreement between the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the European Commission project for the realization of access "Access to and academic success of vulnerable groups in dangerous environments in Latin-America". The budget of the project is € 1,123,827, of which the European Commission will finance € 899,062. The project, developed in collaboration with 12 other universities (participating, in addition, other 11 more, and a total of 22 countries), its main aim to improve levels of inclusion and retention of vulnerable or disadvantaged groups in universities in Latin-America. This objective includes three objectives:



1) To promote access and retention of disadvantaged groups in Higher Education Institutions (HEI);
2) To contribute to the development of inclusion in the IES;
3) To promote institutional networks focused on university inclusion.



The project, which is planned in three years, aims to define and develop a methodology that may encourage the adoption and successful retention of disadvantaged groups through actions and plans of organizational development. It has a network of mutual support and help that guides the adoption of more appropriate measures, dissemination and subsequent institutionalization.



In addition to UAB, which acts as the coordinating institution, the ESC Rennes School of Business (France) and the University of  Bergamo (Italy) will also participate from the part of  Europe. From Latin-America, some of the participating institutions are: Catholic University of Argentina (Argentina), Catholic University de Bolivia (Bolivia), University of Talca (Chile), University of Cienfuegos "Carlos Rafael Rodríguez" (Cuba), Catholic University of Paraguay (Paraguay), Catholic University of Peru (Peru), University ORT of Uruguay (Uruguay), University of Los Andes (Venezuela), Autonomous University of Tabasco (Mexico) and Specialized University of the Americas (Panama). It should also be considered  that the project has received support from the Organization of Latin-American States, the Ministry of Education of Uruguay, the Ministry of Education of Cuba, RedAGE and various Latin-American universities.



Organizational Development Team (EDO) of the UAB has experience in developing European projects and has participated in projects of Erasmus, Asialink, Leonardo and Comenius. It has also developed other projects in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development in activities associated with university education in Latin-America. Among them, it is well-known for its scope and influence of Support Network of Educational Management – RedAGE (http://www.redage.org), which involves over 300 universities from Latin-America linking  to education management and the Project of support and educational enforcement in management and professional competencies  in the City of Coyhaique - Chile (http://blogs.uab.cat/coyhaique/).
