Online learning communities

Date of the scientific meeting: 30/04/2021

The “Online Learning Communities” meeting, organized by Hub B30, will be held on 30th April 2021 at 12p.m.

The Hub B30 is an open innovation network created to promote collaboration, economic development and social cohesion in the territory in which the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is located.

From the Hub B30 they organize the meetings called “Brunch of innovation”, which present the most disruptive technologies and their impact on the business and social fabric. These meetings have lines of innovation in specific fields that allow you to know first hand the trends that are taking shape in the territory, as well as the experts who lead them. The main objective of this year’s brunch is to address the relevant territorial challenges: to dedicate the year to facilitating the generation of collaborative projects related to health, education, culture and tourism. These meetings are aimed at organizations that want to innovate with the help of research and innovation agents in the territory.

The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated changes in the way we work, train and organize. After more than two decades experiencing the applicability of e-learning solutions, the interest of companies, universities and institutions for this subject is rising, which, perhaps now, is unfolding to stay.

Virtual learning communities are digital spaces in which users share ideas and materials, in processes of building collective, interactive, and organized knowledge.

This innovation brunch, in which our colleague and professor David Rodríguez Gómez will participate, invites us to review what trends and innovations point in the field of e-learning, what technologies are being imposed, and what methodological, organizational and socioeconomic challenges remain consider and resolve, with the aim of improving the training experiences proposed by entities and companies. Although the recent rise of e-learning, not all e-learning experiences respond to accessible and compatible technologies, nor to methodologies appropriate to their purpose.
