The doctoral thesis analyzes how Colombian universities can improve their institutional management by valuing intangible assets (knowledge, processes, relationships, etc.) that make up intellectual capital. In a context of global transformations in Higher Education (digitalization, internationalization, etc.), management practices are explored in three universities with diverse characteristics.
Using a mixed-methods approach, key elements related to human, structural, and relational capital are identified, and their level of development and areas for improvement are analyzed. The results show that aspects such as leadership, internal communication, innovation, internationalization, and organizational culture are crucial for the quality and sustainability of university institutions.
The research provides useful evidence for institutional leaders, highlighting the importance of managing knowledge and relationships as strategic assets in the university environment.
