Several members of CRiEDO took part on 28, 29 and 30 January 2026 in an intensive programme of institutional and academic visits in Santiago de Compostela, aimed at strengthening cooperation in research, innovation, knowledge transfer and the improvement of university quality.
An immersion in the city and its educational and cultural institutions
The first day, 28 January, began with a guided tour of the city of Santiago de Compostela accompanied by Antón Costa Rico, catedrático de la USC. The itinerary included emblematic sites of the historic centre and university buildings such as the Pazo de Fonseca, the Paraninfo, the Library of the Faculty of History, and the Museo do Pobo Galego.
Meetings with key stakeholders of the Galician university and educational system
On 29 January, the CRiEDO group started the day with a meeting at the Axencia Galega de Avaliación da Calidade das Universidades (ACSUG), located in the Cidade da Cultura. Afterwards, participants were received at the Regional Ministry of Education, Science, Universities and Professional Training of the Xunta de Galicia, where they met with officials responsible for the university and scientific areas.
The day also included a visit to the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN), as well as a meeting with the Municipal Department of Education of Santiago City Council and representatives of the network of Sociocultural Centres. In the afternoon, the group met with the cooperative Feitoría Verde, linked to USC’s SEPA-interea research group and specialised in environmental and social education.
Exploring research and innovation at USC
The final day, 30 January, was devoted to gaining an in-depth understanding of research and knowledge transfer at the University of Santiago de Compostela. CRiEDO was received by the heads of the Vice-Rectorates for Scientific Policy and Digital Transformation and Innovation at the Pazo de San Xerome, the seat of the USC Rectorate.
Later, the group visited the Faculty of Education Sciences, where they met with research groups recognised as Competitive Reference Groups:
- Stellae Group: https://stellae.usc.es/
- Esculca Group: https://esculca.usc.gal/
- SEPA Group: https://sepa.gal/
The visit concluded with an internal meeting to reflect on and evaluate the learnings generated during the stay, prior to the return flight to Barcelona.
