The UAB rises five points in the QS Ranking
The results of the new 2020 edition of the QS World University Rankings place the UAB at number 188 worldwide. The university thus consolidates its position as one of the top 200 universities in the world after three years of continuous improvements, rising from 195 to 193 and now to position 188 in the ranking. The QS Rankings evaluates 1,620 universities from all over the world and places the UAB among the top 17.6% of institutions worldwide, the best position the UAB has ever reached in any of the QS ranking editions.
Among Spanish universities, the UAB ranks second of all 28 universities analysed by QS and is only surpassed by the University of Barcelona, which ranks 165. Following the UAB in third place is the Autonomous University of Madrid (192) and the Complutense University (212).
The QS Rankings are based on four pillars: research, teaching, employability, and internationalisation. They use six indicators: academic reputation, reputation amongst businesses, ratio of students per faculty, citations, internationalisation of faculties and ratio of international students.
In these six indicators, the UAB stands out in academic reputation (115 worldwide), and in citations of papers per researcher (183, an improvement of 106 points over last year's edition). The university's reputation among businesses also improves (248, up from last year's 261) and in international teaching staff (455 in comparison to last year's 474).
The report issued by QS on each university shows that UAB's scientific production for the 2013-2017 period was 20,460 articles, with a total number of 227,895 citations, corresponding to 142,783 normalised citations according to the weight of each discipline in each country. The UAB produces 80.6 citations per researchers, far above the global average of 37.0 citations.

Els resultats de la nova edició 2020 dels QS World University Rankings situen la UAB en la posició 188 del món. La Universitat està consolidada entre les 200 millors del món després de tres anys de millora continuada tot ocupant les posicions 195, 193 i 188 en aquests darrers tres anys. El rànquing QS avalua 1.620 universitats de tot el món i situa la UAB entre les 17,6% millors del món, la millor posició en percentil mai assolida per la UAB en el QS.
En l’àmbit estatal, la UAB ocupa la segona entre les 28 universitats espanyoles analitzades per QS per darrere de la Universitat de Barcelona, en la 165. Segueixen la UAB la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, en la posició 192, i la Complutense en la 212.
El rànquing QS es basa en quatre pilars, la investigació, la docència, l'empleabilitat i la internacionalització, així com en sis indicadors: la reputació acadèmica, la reputació entre les empreses, la ràtio d'estudiants per professor, les citacions, la internacionalització i la ràtio d'estudiants internacionals.
Entre aquests indicadors, la UAB destaca en reputació acadèmica, amb la posició 115 mundial, i en les citacions dels articles científics per investigador, amb la posició 183, millorant en 106 posicions respecte l’edició anterior. També millora en la reputació de la Universitat entre les empreses (posició 248, respecte la posició 261 de l’any passat), i en professorat internacional (posició 455 respecte la posició 474 de l’edició anterior).
L’informe que facilita QS sobre cada universitat mostra com la producció científica de la UAB al llarg del període 2013-2017 ha estat de 20.460 articles, amb un nombre de citacions total de 227.895, que correspon a 142.783 citacions normalitzades tenint en compte el pes de cada disciplina en cada país. La UAB comptabilitza 80,6 citacions per investigador, molt per sobre de les 37,0 de la mitjana global.
