UAB consolidates in the Shanghai ranking

The UAB consolidates its presence in the prestigious Shanghai ranking, between the 201 and 300 best universities in the world.
The UAB continues, as the previous year, between the 201 and the 300 best universities in the world according to the new edition of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) - known as the Shanghai ranking that analyzes more than 1,800 universities around the world and publishes the ranking of the 1,000 best.
This means that the UAB is the second best-ranked Catalan university, behind only the University of Barcelona, and is placed in second position at the Spanish level - along with the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Granada and the University of Valencia. In the next section (301-400) on the list, there are the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of the Basque Country and the Pompeu Fabra University.
Once again, the world ranking is led by American universities. The top positions are for Harvard and Stanford, while Cambridge is third.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) was published for the first time in June 2003. ARWU considers six objective indicators to rank universities: the number of students and professors awarded with the Nobel Prize or the Fields Medal, the number of articles high-impact scientists selected by Thomson Reuters, the number of articles published in Nature and Science journals, the number of articles indexed in the Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and the relative performance of each university.
