Teacher as promoter of social values and as trainer of people
Dr. Olga Martinez Treviño began his post-doctoral stay at the EDO for the development of a research focusing on the analysis of the role of teachers in situation of conflict.
In the project that Dr. Martinez will carry on during his stay will try to explain whether the social values that teachers promote are implicit in its projections and actions in classroom.
Framing the teacher as promoter of social values and as trainer of people, Dr. Martinez focus his attention on the discourse analysis of classroom teachers in the different representations and roles that the teacher play. It will focus specifically on the professional role and impact of these interactions in the interpersonal relationships of their students in basic education subject "Civics and ethics" in Monterrey (Mexico).
The research focuses, from a psycho-educational perspective, on the understanding of the mechanisms of influence of educational practices, social and personal relationships of those involved and the definition of the action of the teacher as "trainer of people" and "promoter social values".
It is expected that the project is to elucidate, through a representative sample, what are the appropriate actions that help teacher to solve conflicting situations, allowing the definition of intervention plans to help the personal improvement and professional development.
