Cecilia Inés Suárez, EDO-UAB member, ends a three month- visiting as a PhD Student at Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education, University of Maryland, Maryland, United States. 

During the visiting, she has had the opportunity to analyze theoretical perspectives and Models being used in the United States to understand students’ retention. She also exchanged experiences with other researchers interested in issues related to college access, retention and minority students in higher education. These activities were based upon the work supported by the Predoctoral Fellowship Program “Formación de Profesorado Universitario”, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Spain, under grant no. AP 2012-5020.

Dr. Alberto Cabrera has been her hosting professor. Dr. Cabrera is a full professor in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education and an expert on the impact of college on students, college choice, classroom experiences, minorities in higher education and college outcomes.
