Previous activities of II CIEDO 2012

Leveraging the synergies created by the Congress EDO 2012, the Conference organizers have prepared some previous activities to reflect the environment for knowledge management in organizations. The first will take place on Monday, May 21^st, at the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialized Training in Barcelona, with the participation of Javier Martinez Aldanondo.

Martinez Aldanondo is one of the best specialists in e-learning and knowledge management in Spanish speaking world. In particular, his understanding of these disciplines emphasizes on the pedagogy and learning rather than on technology. Martinez Aldanondo thinks the best way to learn is "learning by doing" (“aprender haciendo”) rather than memorizing what the teacher says in class. He often says "You practice, and we help you”.

Martinez Aldanondo studied with Roger Shank, one of the most prominent authors in world in innovation in learning. Schank, who was inspired by North American philosopher John Dewey, is a supporter of learning by doing. Firstly, with the activities and the continuation, we can access to the necessary knowledge. But there is another important aspect of teacher which stress the need to provide students with an interesting role, engaging and motivating activities that must be developed. In this case, a clear example can be being a member of the team of advisors for the U.S. president in the class of macroeconomics.

Martinez Aldanondo has applied these ideas in various projects that he has carried out in Barcelona and Chile (where he currently lives). In the Catalan capital, he worked for GEC, SA (company of UOC Group), and in Chile he has worked as director of e-learning projects Talentus (Learning Innovation Services). Currently, he is the manager of the Knowledge Management Division of the Chilean company Catenaria.
