Presenting a Publication
On 22nd of October it is presented in Madrid the publication “Culture of Security and Defence: basis and improvement perspectives”, where Joaquín Gairín participates as an author.
The contribution “Culture of Security and Defence: basis and improvement perspectives” is the issue number 172 of the Collection “Cuaderno de Estrategia” which publishes periodically in the Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies (IEEE) that depends directly of the General Secretary of Defence Policy of the Ministry of Defence.
The publication is divided in six chapters devoted to different approaches related to the theme, like culture of security and defence in the perspective of knowledge government, promotion and management collective knowledge to improve security, historical heritage in spreading culture of security or policies in promoting culture and conscience of security and defence.
Joaquín Gairín, co-coordinator of the de la subgroup EDURISC of EDO-UAB, has developed the second chapter, tackling the topic “Promoting and managing collective knowledge to improve culture and practice of security in education”, where it is presented the main strategies to generate explicit knowledge about security in education from implicit knowledge that different educational agents possess.
EDO-UAB, through its subgroup EDURISC, presents security in educational centres as a priority and necessary research line, since previous studies have shown that it is required that educational centres stablish processes addressed to identification and control of existing hazards in an educational environment. In this regard, the anticipation and linkage of action plans adapted to every reality and idiosyncrasy allows to reduce the presence of hazards and risks of injury, as much physical as personal. For getting it, they have worked aspects such as elaboration self-assessment tools for measuring risks, managing psycho social risks and designing auto protection processes.
Moreover, from EDO-UAB group it is being promoted a Master’s Degree in Intelligence analyst, where members of IEEE participate as teachers and whose main objective is to train professionals capable of working in intelligence production unities, study services, analysis and prospective and cabinets of strategic planning in public and private entities, such as companies, non-governmental organizations and Public Administration institutions.
