The Mexican Journal of Educational Research (RMIE) has published a new study titled “Analysis of the impact of co-teaching on primary school students’ learning in Catalonia”, authored by Edwin Triana-Teherán and Carme Armengol Asparó, member of CRiEDO.
The article examines how co-teaching influences academic performance and students’ willingness to learn in 5th and 6th grade in Catalonia. Using a concurrent mixed-method design, the study combined quantitative and qualitative approaches:
- Pre-test and post-test in control and experimental groups.
- Qualitative questionnaire for the experimental group.
The sample included 125 students from two schools. The results show:
- Significant improvement in academic performance in the experimental group.
- Perception of greater teacher attention and better willingness to learn.
Co-teaching shows great potential to improve learning, although further research with larger samples and better variable control is recommended.
