New agreement signed between the Department of Education and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona group for the analysis of SCAP Model.

Last December UAB group signed a collaboration agreement with the Department of Education of Catalonia with the aim of work together in research on the SCAP Guiding Competency Model, which is being implemented in secondary education centers throughout Catalonia. The agreement developed by researchers of Department of Social and Systematic Pedagogy and Department of Applied Pedagogy, with the collaboration of the professionals of the Service for Educational Success and New Opportunities of the Education Ministry, is coordinated by Dr. Diego Castro Ceacero, member of EDO.

The guiding model of competence (SCAP acronym that refers to Significance, Communication, Action and Projection of students learning) emerges from the theoretical corpus of educational guidance, developed from the Department of Education in the academic year 2011-2012, and contains the pedagogical principles and the organizational and relationship dynamics of a center aimed at promoting student success in terms of autonomy and the development of their life project.

The pedagogical models and theories of learning that cover the pedagogical tradition are its references and it is inserted in the approach and competence design of the current curricula in Catalonia.

The guiding competency model is a tool that allows centers and their teams to deepen the professional and pedagogical development of school and center as an organization in its three dimensions: (1) field / subject; (2) tutorial action and (3) team culture. Each of these dimensions is specified in criteria and indicators of educational guidance that guide the analysis, reflection and pedagogical action of the center for continuous improvement.
