Last Tuesday, on July 5th,  three institutions who are conducting the AECID project 'Development and strengthening of education in the city of Coyhaique (Chile)' held a meeting with Ms. Teresa Calvis, the Regional Secretary of the Ministry of Education.

The meeting was attended by Oscar Prieto (Department of Education of the City of Coyhaique), Sebastián Sánchez (FIDECAP of Chile),  and Joaquín Gairín and José Luis Muñoz (UAB), who gave instruction to the Education Ministry about the project which was in its fourth year of implementation, as well as presented the next International Congress of Education and Municipalities which will be held in Coyhaique next October.

Joaquín Gairín, general coordinator of the project, said, "The congress is supposed to be real opportunity to discuss and to think about the role of municipalities in educational material and to bring to the table the challenges faced by the local educational communities. "He also wanted to highlight the invitation to educational centres and professionals "to submit proposals and interesting experiences which they developed in practice and certainly will make it possible to share a great variety of pedagogical knowledge in order to serve the need of education and society".

During the week from July 4th to 8th, the project has made progress in its annual target of autonomous networks of training and educational improvement among schools in the town of Coyhaique. Therefore, we have set up three working groups with leaders from different educational centres approaching to topics related to issues of curriculum development, promotion of reading and improvement of the relations within them. Meanwhile, they continued their visits and work in educational centres, as what have been applied since 2008.  (View Photos)
