On March 14 and 15, the XIX International Congress and XXXIX Conference on Universities and Inclusive Education were held at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
Laia Vila, predoctoral researcher and member of CRiEDO, presented a communication titled “The perception of students and university professors of the Faculties of Education Sciences on inclusive methodologies and resources”. This work is part of a broader investigation that aims to analyze the treatment of inclusion in the Faculties of Educational Sciences of Catalan Universities in order to make proposals for improvement in this area. The communication presented the results of a limited sample of participants relevant to the group of students and teachers of one of the Catalan public universities, who were asked about their perception in relation to the inclusive resources offered by the institution of which can be available, and also in relation to the inclusive methodologies in which they had participated or had promoted in university classrooms. These results indicate that inclusive resources are used by both groups, although there is a lack of knowledge, especially on the part of the students, regarding the diversity of resources and services. It is also evident that there is a predisposition for the use of inclusive methodologies in the classroom and, at the same time, it is demonstrated that their use facilitates the teaching and learning process of future education professionals.
These Conferences have been organized since 1983 by the Network of Universities and Inclusive Education together with one of the member universities of the network. Since 2002, the International Congress has also been held, each edition dealing with a topic of great social and scientific interest. This year it was held in Donostia-San Sebastián at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and was titled “Weaving inclusive networks: school + community + research. The purpose of this new edition was to contribute to the development of more educational and social contexts. inclusive with themes linked to four lines: Inclusive school, inclusive community, inclusive methodologies and networking
