On May 7, the final of the “Thesis in 4 minutes” competition was held, in which doctoral students were challenged to present their doctoral thesis in a maximum time of four minutes.
Laia Vila, member of CRiEDO, presented her thesis entitled “Analysis of the treatment of inclusion in the Faculties of Educational Sciences of Catalan Universities” before the jury, made up of a representative of the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research, a representative of the Vice-Rector’s Office for Communication and Culture, the vice-rector for International Relations and Language Policy, the director of the Doctoral School and by UAB researchers and members of the Permanent Board of the Doctoral School.
The thesis is an analysis of the treatment of inclusion and attention to diversity in the Faculties of Educational Sciences of the Catalan Universities, which is where future education professionals are trained, who will become social references for the new generations, offering them social and educational models to follow. Therefore, they will be, in the near future, largely responsible for the construction of an inclusive and cohesive society.
The research gives voice to the teaching, student and university management bodies through a qualitative methodology around five axes of analysis, which include the context of inclusion, groups in vulnerable situations, policies and protocols, inclusive services and resources, and inclusive practices in university classrooms.
The analysis of the perceptions and experiences of the different groups will serve as a starting point to generate proposals that improve the current situation in terms of university inclusion.
