Joaquín Gairín and his team receive the J. Vicens Vives Prize

The award was given to the group of teachers in the subfield of Organization of Educational Institutions in Department of Applied Pedagogy as a career for over 30 years, and has been consolidating in a stable group and professional practice. The group brings together a dozen teachers who conduct teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level about institutions analysis of formal and informal educational institutions, the evaluation process of programmes, centers and teaching, leadership and organizational development and innovation and cultural change in educational organizations.

The subfield of Organization of Educational Institutions has an important position in teaching of the four undergraduate degrees courses in the Faculty of Educational Sciences (Social Education, Pedagogy, Early Childhood and Primary Education) , as well as in other faculties and subject in the university.

The teaching staff has been coordinated to improve teaching and learning of students, implicated in the development of teaching materials, the dissemination of good practice in seminars and conferences, in updating the content of the materials and its adaptation to new plans of studies and in research in practice through the development of scientific articles on university teaching in this discipline. Part of the research conducted by this group is linked with the Organizational Development Team (EDO) of the Department.

The award ceremony will take place under the framework of the inauguration of the academic year 2012-2013 in the Catalan university system on September 17^th at University of Pompeu Fabra.

The Jaume Vicens Vives Award for the quality university teaching, which is awarded by the Government, was established in 1996 and aims to reward outstanding contributions to the improvement of university teaching. It can either be granted to individual teachers or to be granted as a collective award to university research teams, departments or centers.
