EDO-UAB member, Xavier Gimeno, has published altogether with other authors, a book about the relationship between educational centres and families. 

Xavier Gimeno, EDO-UAB member, altogether with Sílvia Blanch and Arnau Careta, has published a book titled “Intersectional territories between education centres and families. A study in pre-primary education”.

This book aims to analyse conceptions, expectations and links between families that 21 professionals from different centres and services of Pre-Primary Education stablish with families. The research has been developed from a mixed methodology perspective: quantitative, to facilitate data processing, but qualitative above all, to enable understanding of the studied phenomenon through analyzing results.

The results are structured in a 7 general level system, which show the complexity of the concept “family”, its transformation process, relationship between centers and families, and professional performance to give an educational answer according to the situation of nowadays families. Regarding relationship between centers and families, it is shown a change of strategies, abut, at the same time, it is also embodied difficulties to put altogether in practice in a way that it reinforces the relationship between an institution and the family. Finally, the results also identify some aspects that are accepted and appreciated by the professionals that have participated together with others that, despite they emerge from the same group of professionals, generate the need to drift apart or justify.

The research helps to come closer to experts and professionals, as well as explore and show progress, barriers and challenges to improve the relationship with families, which, at the same time, implies improvement of the performance of different services.
