International Stay of María Verónica Leiva at CRiEDO

María Verónica Leiva, PhD and full professor, has commenced an international stay at CRiEDO.

Her research project focuses on public education management models in Chile, specifically the new Local Public Education Services (SLEP) established under Law 21.040.

Leiva’s project aims to analyze the educational management processes of the SLEP by describing the perceptions of administrators, teachers, students, parents, and guardians regarding the changes, advancements, and tensions in the new administration of public education. A mixed-methods qualitative-quantitative approach will be utilized, incorporating surveys and interviews with key stakeholders from the first eleven SLEP.

During her stay at CRiEDO, Leiva will focus on:

  • Publication of a Scientific Article: In collaboration with Dr. Joaquín Gairín, an article based on the theoretical review of her research will be published.
  • Presentation at a Conference: Leiva will present the findings from the initial phases of her project at the CRiEDO Conference.
  • Interaction with Research Groups: She will share her project with research groups and graduate students.
  • Compendium of Interviews: She will collect interviews from educational managers in the public administration of Barcelona

Leiva is also involved in the project “Investigating Without Borders,” which aims to identify best practices in educational management of intermediary organizations in Chile and other countries. This project brings together an international team of researchers from Chile, Spain, Argentina, and Brazil, with the goal of establishing a methodology to identify patterns of best practices in educational management. The research team includes María Verónica Leiva, Monserrat Polanco, Patricia Jiménez, Franco Guidi, Mauro Álvarez, Camila Hernández, Enzo Zavala (Chile), Joaquín Gairín (Spain), Pablo García (Argentina), and Marilda Pasqual (Brazil).

This interdisciplinary effort seeks to revalue and give meaning to educational management tools, facilitating their understanding and application in various contexts. Leiva’s stay at CRiEDO promises to be a significant step toward improving educational management in Chile and beyond.
