Inclusive education application proposal in the metropolitan district of Quito

Dissertation thesis by Karina Delgado Valdivieso about inclusive Equadorian education.
Doctoral candidate Karina Elizabeth Delgado Valdivieso will defend her doctoral thesis entitled 'Proposal of application of the approach of inclusive education in educational institutions belonging to the metropolitan district of Quito' on Tuesday 19th November.
Delgado developed the thesis based on the following question: How and to what extent do the educational institutions of the Metropolitan District of Quito comply with the policies related to inclusive education?
In this sense, inclusive education seeks to achieve a service that gathers all students without discrimination because of their origin, social, cultural and personal condition. The described one is analysed as a problematic in Ecuador, which still evidences the existence of children and adolescents who have not received this educational service.
The doctoral candidate has reached at least two important conclusions. In the first place, she argues that the analysis indicates that the actors do not understand the concept of inclusive education on itself, a fact for which it is convenient to continue betting with project initiatives promoted by ERDISC. Besides, the level of high self-satisfaction reported in the Metropolitan District of Quito is probably not what happens throughout the country, so it is necessary to replicate this study to other areas of Equador.
It is a dissertation thesis framed within the Doctorate of Education studies and directed by Dr. Miquel Àngel Essomba. The defense of the thesis will be on Tuesday November 19th at 10 AM in the Sala de Graus de la Facultat de Ciències de la Educació (Building G6), open to the public.
